Lakeland Finals parade taking different route in St. Paul

As the Lakeland Rodeo Association Showdown Finals prepare to light up St. Paul once again, a tradition around the rodeo will see some change this year. The St. Paul AG Society is looking to get the word out to everyone heading to the rodeo parade on August 31st that the route is a little different.

Work on 42nd Street means the parade route will be migrating further west into the downtown core. St. Paul Community Futures Manager Penny Fox says this might leave some who are used to the old route wondering where everyone is.

“You won’t be able to see it from the CO-OP parking lot, from McDonalds and from Tim Hortons. That’s always been our biggest number of watchers. They’ll need to migrate into downtown in order to see the parade.”

The parade will start at the 46th Street intersection near Racette Junior High School and end at 53rd Street. Fox says the runners in the “Rodeo Mile” will start their race and once they clear the parade can begin.

“They’re gonna run as fast as they can as they do and once they pass, which should only be about three or four minutes, the parade can begin. So the parade should start at five minutes after 10 AM.”

Information on the parade is at the St. Paul AG Society website.
