Bark in the Park helping LHS celebrate 20 years

The Lakeland Humane Society is inviting residents to come and see what all the noise is about at their Bark in the Park 2019 event. The celebration of four-legged friends is back again on August 25th. LHS Shelter Manager Nicole Mbanefo says this year is a special celebration of 20 years for the group.

“2019 is marking our 20th year serving Cold Lake and the Lakeland area as the humane society. We really want to make it a bigger, more entertaining event for this year.”

This year begins with a pet walkathon to raise money starting at the Lions Park soccer fields. A family fun fest at noon with entertainment and a barbecue along with dog agility demonstration is also on the schedule.

The group has set a fundraising goal of $50,000. Mbanefo says any money the group takes in from Bark in the Park goes towards making sure they have the tools to keep animals in the shelter safe and happy.

“It goes straight back to helping the animal. That’s what Bark in the Park is for. It’s for replenishing our end-of-summer supplies.”

Participants can gather pledges using a handy pledge form at the LHS website. More information on Bark in the Park is also available online.
