Haying in the ’30s reaps around $250,000 in donations

A popular fundraiser to help those who are battling cancer is celebrating a big August Long Weekend. Haying in the ’30s celebrated its 21st weekend and organizers are calling it very successful. In a post on Facebook, the group says it was able to raise just under $250,000 this year.

Attendees got a look at living on a farm was like 80 years ago. A parade, threshing demonstrations and nightly music were just some of what the crowd of visitors took in over two days of events.

Organizers say campers came from as as far as England and Australia to enjoy the weekend. The group says they have been able to help around 5,000 people since the very first event was held back in 1999.
