RCMP confirms manhunt suspects spotted in Cold Lake

Cold Lake RCMP has confirmed two teenagers at the heart of a Canada-wide manhunt were spotted in Cold Lake.

Mounties say at approximately 9:30 p.m. on July 21, a north end resident saw a vehicle stuck on a trail behind their house. They say two younger males were observed outside of a Toyota Rav-4. Mounties say the resident assisted the pair in getting unstuck and they drove off after what is described as a “short, unremarkable interaction.”

Police say it wasn’t until later in the day that the resident was on social media, and was able to identify the two men they helped Bryer Schmegelsky and Kam Mcleod.

Schmegelsky and Mcleod are facing charges in the murder of one man and suspects in the fatal shootings of a young couple in Northern BC.
