Cold Lake council gives green light to Verge Arts Festival grant

Councillors in Cold Lake have approved a $5,000 sponsorship grant for the second annual Verge Arts Festival.

The three-day event in August, which includes theatre, musical performances, and static visual displays, was a giant undertaking for organizers, and council hopes the grant will help out where needed.

“The Cold Lake Entertainment Society took a big leap of faith with starting this festival last year, and we really hope to see it grow with some community support,” says Mayor Craig Copeland. “We think it has potential and are thrilled that community groups step up to take these events on.”

The local talent on display in the festival will include at least four productions with a fully local cast. One of the main productions will be headed by local student Meghan Rennie. Copland says it’s a phenomenal opportunity to really show off the best of Cold Lake and area.

“We are thrilled this group is working to showcase the deep pool of artistic talent we have in Cold Lake.”

The festival runs August 9th-11th at the Grande Parlour.
