Rancher may face charges after five cows killed in highway accident

A rancher near Muriel Lake may face charges after a number of cattle were hit by vehicles. Mounties in Bonnyville say they were called out to Highway 657 after some cows got out of their pasture and were hit by a pair of vehicles.

Both drivers weren’t seriously hurt but the five cows were either killed or had to be put down because of their injuries. Police say their investigation into the incident is continuing but the rancher may face charges stemming from the cows being improperly fenced in.
