The Bonnyville RCMP say a charity day they hosted on June 21st has raised over $5000 for a special monument. The Bonnyville mounties hosted a barbecue, bake sale and garage sale last Friday in their detachment parking lot in support of the “Fallen Four Memorial Park” in Mayerthorpe.
On Monday mounties announced that the day had raised over $5600 in support of restoration efforts on the statue. Bonnyville RCMP Staff Sergeant Sarah Parke says she was overwhelmed by the support shown by the community.
“We are excited to announce that we raised over $5600.00 for the Fallen Four Memorial Society and we couldn’t have done it without the hundreds of people that attended the event and donated so generously. We would also like to thank CNRL for their time and contribution to the event which helped make it a success.”
The statue is thought to need around $17,000 worth of work.
