Elk Point mounties catch up to wanted man

Police in Elk Point say a man wanted on 14 different charges is back in jail. Mounties say they were called to Frog Lake on June 16th after reports of an erratic driver. Police found the vehicle and tried to pull it over but it took off.

A pursuit was quickly given up in the Fishing Lake Metis Settlement due to safety concerns. Police found the vehicle later abandoned. Mounties and the Cold Lake Police Dog searched on foot for the driver and eventually caught up to him.

29-year-old Matthew Lajimodiere now faces new charges including possession of property obtained by a crime. He’ll stay in police custody and see St. Paul Provincial Court on June 27th.

Police believe the vehicle he was driving was stolen out of Bonnyville.
