Toxic Round-Up draws high numbers

The MD of Bonnyville says the Household Toxic Round-Up over the weekend was a huge success. On June 22nd residents dropped off items like old tires, paint, batteries and electronics for safe disposal at the Bonnyville Fire Hall. MD Waste Management Supervisor Brad Ollen says the final numbers are an improvement from last year.

“We ended up with 152 residents showing up for the toxic round-up. Many battled through the rainstorm that we had and we got lots of material to be recycled properly.”

Volunteers including a few councillors with the Town of Bonnyville were on hand to help unload vehicles throughout the afternoon. Ollen says certain MD Transfer stations can still take the hazardous materials outside of the round-up.

“Check the MD of Bonnyville website and click on the ‘Waste’ link. You’ll be able to find out where to take all that material.”
