Man Arrested After Kehewin Assault, attacks, spits on officers

On June 23rd, 2015 at approximately 10:45 PM, the Bonnyville RCMP responded to a 911 call for assistance as a male had been sprayed with bear mace.  Bonnyville RCMP Constables attended and learned that a male, a 45 year old resident of Kehewin, AB, had been struck with a bat and sprayed with bear mace by a another male, a 33 year old resident of Kehewin, AB.  The 33 year had already fled the scene by the time police arrived.  The 33 year old male is known to police and the Bonnyville RCMP Constables located the 33 year old male in the tall grass nearby the residence and was arrested with little resistance before being transported the Bonnyville RCMP Detachment. While on route to the detachment the male was belligerent yelling at the Constables.  Once inside the Bonnyville RCMP cell block, the male refused to comply with any commands issued by the officers and spat on one of the Constables.  After gaining control of the male and lodging him into a cell, the detachment guard advised the Constables that the male was now bleeding.  Bonnyville RCMP Officers struggled with the male to get him under control in order for EMS to attend and assess his injuries.  During this the male was fighting with the 3 police officers and spat in the face of the Corporal on duty.  The male remains in custody facing charges of Assaulting a Peace Officer x2, Assault with a Weapon x2, Possession of a Weapon for the Purpose of Committing an Offence x2, Administering a Noxious Thing and Failing to Comply with Court Compelling Conditions x2.  The male appears in Bonnyville Court on July 7th, 2015.  No injuries were sustained by the officers during any of the altercations with the 33 year old male.
