Students ready for Trades Carnival

400 high school students are going to get a close-up look at working in the trades this week. On Thursday Northern Light Public Schools will host their second Trades and Industry Carnival. The day focuses on introducing Indigenous students to careers in the trades, and post-secondary opportunities.

Students will get to work hands-on at the NLPS Trades Exposure Centre in Bonnyville which features a working service rig, scaffolding area and a little instruction in the classroom.

The Trades Exposure Centre was started in 2015. Companies like AECOM and Seven Lakes Oilfield Services are partners in the centre.
