STARS called to LLB-area ATV crash

Lac La Biche mounties say a long weekend ATV crash landed one woman in an Edmonton hospital via STARS air ambulance. It happened on Saturday evening at a popular camping area northwest of Lac La Biche. Police are saying a man lost control of his unit and a 23-year-old woman was thrown from the vehicle.

Officers and first responders provided first aid while the STARS helicopter was called into the remote area. The woman is said to be in stable condition. Both riders were wearing helmets at the time.

A 25-year-old man from Athabasca now faces charges including impaired driving of an ATV causing bodily harm. He’s also facing trouble as an ATV ban is in effect in the area. His name is not being released as charges have not been formally sworn at this time.
