One dead after crash near Stoney Lake

St. Paul Mounties say they are still investigating after a Wednesday afternoon crash took the life of a 40-year-old Edmonton man. Police say the accident happened at about 1:30 PM on Highway 646 and Range Road 83, southeast of town near Stoney Lake. The RCMP believes a car headed eastbound hit a westbound semi. The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the semi was not hurt. Traffic was rerouted from the area for hours. Police say that is no longer the case and traffic is flowing now.

Mounties say their investigation into the cause of the accident continues. The name of the deceased man will not be released.
