Ashmont School Bus Driver has over 50 years on the job

A Lakeland school bus driver is being highlighted for his half-a-century of service. Hugh Gamblin has been running a school bus to and from Ashmont School since November 1968. He was featured in a post on the St. Paul Education Regional Division website for Bus Driver Appreciation Day on Monday.

Gamblin’s father began driving the bus back in 1955 but turned it over to Hugh while he was still in Grade 12. Along with hauling kids, Gamblin has even helped deliver mail and groceries in Ashmont when called upon.

Gamblin was a Director for the Province of Alberta School Bus Contractors for 38 years. It seems he has no plans to retire, with the school board adding “We look forward to working with you for many years to come!”
