Lakeland-rooted petition on Trans Mountain gaining traction

An online petition on the Trans Mountain Pipeline expansion started in the Lakeland is gaining traction. Petition E-2165 calls for the approval and construction of the pipeline expansion and a concrete answer on when it will be completed. It was started on May 2nd by Cold Lake resident Angela Cook.

On Friday Lakeland MP Shannon Stubbs posted a video on her Facebook page calling for support for the petition. Stubbs says it’s time for taxpayer voices to be heard.

“Canadians need to take action to call on this government to do what is in Canada’s national interest.”

A decision on the pipeline was expected from Ottawa back in May. It has since been delayed until June 18th. Stubbs says support for the expansion is still very high.

“The majority of Canadians, including the majority of British Columbians, support the Trans Mountain expansion.”
