Hanson projected winner in Bonnyville – Cold Lake – St. Paul

Projections are saying that United Conservative Party member Dave Hanson has won the riding of Bonnyville – Cold Lake – St. Paul. Hanson was unofficially declared the winner Tuesday night about 40 minutes after polls closed in the 2019 Provincial Election. He had previously served as MLA for Lac La Biche – St. Paul-Two Hills since 2015. He says teamwork made the difference for his campaign

“When you have a campaign team that’s working 24/7 to get you across the line, it’s a relief.”

Hanson joins a new majority UCP government that saw the incumbent New Democrats drop a projected 27 seats in the legislature. He says the results show how important voting can be after the 2015 election

“I think there was a lot of Albertans that took politics for granted. They’ve seen the damage that can be done in a four year period.”

The results in the election will stay unofficial until a final tally of votes Wednesday night. Hanson says he’s ready to get to work in the legislature.
