Movie will highlight the Lakeland: Producer

The film being shot in Cold Lake starting at the end of April will highlight the Lakeland, says one of the movie’s producers. Patty Srisuwan and her crew are readying for an estimated three-week shoot in Cold Lake as well as Bonnyville and other parts of the Lakeland. She describes the plot of the movie as a family-drama telling the story of a young immigrant.

“An Asian girl who gets adopted into Canadian culture. She’s trying to find a footing in the community and, more like in the culture.”

The city put out an announcement Tuesday that shooting around the area may cause delays for some. As for the choice of using the Lakeland as a backdrop, Srisuwan says her crew has shot in California and other locations but there’s a certain magic in the area that can’t be replicated.

“I think we have such beautiful scenery and great people here so why don’t we bring [shooting] here and showcase Cold Lake to the world a little bit?”

Srisuwan can’t give any cast member names out yet but says a pair of actors in the project would be recognizable from their work in Hollywood. Filming is due to begin on April 30th. The movie is expected to be wrapped up by May 19th.
