Man accused of hitting business owner with U-Haul denied bail

A man charged after an incident involving a hit-and-run and chase with a U-Haul truck in Bonnyville will stay in jail. Police say 32-year-old Christian Bubar was at the wheel of the truck when it hit a business owner as well as a police cruiser after a break-and-enter on February 27th. Eventually, police got the truck stopped in a ditch near St. Lina.

Bubar is facing charges of break-and-enter and assault with a weapon. He also faces different charges from other incidents involving police around the Lakeland. On Tuesday he made an appearance in Bonnyville Provincial Court via CCTV from the Edmonton Remand Centre where his bail was denied.

Bubar is next due in court on April 16th.
