Four detachments team up on Checkstop

Lakeland mounties say teaming up for a Checkstop operation has yielded positive results. Mounties in Bonnyville, St. Paul and Cold Lake along with Vermilion joined with the MD of Bonnyville and sent 15 officers out on March 22nd. They were able to stop about 250 cars over three hours.

Police say one 22-year-old woman was caught driving over the influence. Tickets were also handed out for not wearing a seatbelt, invalid registration as well as other offences. Director of Public Safety for the MD Chris Garner says teamwork with officers across the region helps keep the public safe.

“Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is a success.
It was a pleasure to deploy jointly with the RCMP for this operation. It is important we work
together to ensure the safety of our residents in the Municipal District of Bonnyville”
