MD working on wheelchair-accessible campsites

A pair of MD of Bonnyville campsites will have wheelchair-accessible units this summer. The MD has announced that the Cold Lake MD Park and Crane Lake Park will be fitted with sites that are easier to use for guests in wheelchairs.

The project was given the OK after the federal government announced it would be handing over around $50,000 in a grant to the MD. The money will go towards four spots in each campground being worked on and new wheelchair-accessible picnic tables being installed. MD Director of Parks, Recreation and Culture Chris Mccord says the grant makes the parks even more enjoyable.

“This is a great opportunity to make sure our parks can be enjoyed by everyone. We are happy to receive this grant which will help make our beautiful lakeside parks more accessible.”

Work on the campsites is expected to start soon. The MD says they expect the sites to be ready for use by the Canada Day weekend.
