Update – 8-year-old boy found safe in Calgary

Edmonton Police say they’ve cancelled the Amber Alert after locating 8-year-old Noah Ducharme. Police say the alert was lifted at 5:30 AM Saturday morning saying both the boy and his mother were found unhurt in Calgary. His mother has since been taken into custody with the RCMP.

Police have released a message now saying they believe the suspect and child may be in a different vehicle then previously described. Edmonton Police Service says they believe Hjalte and Ducharme may be riding in a 2002 Buick Century with Alberta license plate M-A-E 9-0-3. Police say they may be in the Calgary area.

Edmonton Police have issued an Amber Alert after an 8-year-old was taken earlier Friday in the city. Police says Noah Ducharme was taken from the Waverly Elementary School at 68 Street and 89th Avenue in Edmonton at around 2:50 PM. He is described as male, about four feet tall, 70 lbs, with short brown hair. Ducharme was wearing a dark green hoodie, light coloured jeans, yellow and black Nike prescription glasses.

He was believed to have been taken by his mother Brianne Hjalte. She is described as 31-years-old, Indigenous,five-foot-seven inches tall. She weighs around 180 pounds, has dark shoulder length hair and was wearing a dark jacket and dark pants.

They are believed to be travelling in a 2008 Silver Jeep Patriot with Alberta plate Z W K 8 4 4. It is believed that Noah is in imminent danger.
