MD gets ready for what could be wet spring melt

The MD of Bonnyville says they’re taking steps to get ready for what could a very wet spring runoff. In their regular council meeting on Wednesday, the MD council heard from Director of Agriculture and Waste Matt Janz. Janz says his department is getting ready for a big spring runoff by trapping beavers before they dam up waterways. A flood mitigation plan is also being pieced together for 2019.

Janz also reported that snow piles are being removed from hamlets around the MD and culverts are being dug out to allow water flow. Pumps and other equipment are being put into common flooding areas for easy access in case of emergency.
