New St. Paul animal shelter celebrates opening

The new animal shelter in St. Paul is open for business. The new building at Highway 29 and Range Road 105 west of town opened for good on Monday with a small open house and chance to check out the new facility. Shelter Manager Josiah Clarke says the last six months were a lot of work but teamwork made the day possible.

“A lot of finishing up construction and cleaning. I’d like to thank everyone that helped, from working bingos to helping clean to getting everything up and going.”

The building replaces one damaged during a storm about three years ago. Clarke says day one in the new building saw interaction with other communities from the Lakeland.

“We had someone from the Bonnyville SPCA board come up. She wanted to see the new building and say congrats and see how we can work together so that’s pretty exciting.”

Clarke says anyone interested in learning more about their local shelter can stop by and say hi. The new public hours for the building are from 1 pm to 5:30 pm weekdays and 1 pm to 4:30 pm weekends. More information on the St. Paul Animal Shelter is available at their official website.
