Repairs begin on Lessard Bridge

Construction crews have begun repairs on the Lessard Bridge in the MD of Bonnyville. The MD announced on Wednesday on Facebook that crews had started repair work on the bridge. The bridge was damaged during the thaw last spring. Moving ice caused some marring on the piles the bridge sits on.

Crews are expected to work on the bridge until its planned re-opening in mid-April. Barricades are still up around the scene and the MD is reminding people to stay away from the bridge until its deemed safe to use.

An ice road next to the bridge used by snowmobilers was being used. The MD says they’ll be providing updates when they become available.
