Stubbs fires shot during SNC emergency debate

Lakeland MP Shannon Stubbs has weighed in on the turmoil surrounding the SNC-Lavalin issue. Liberal MP Jane Philpott was added to a list of politicians stepping down from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s cabinet as a result of the government handling of the affair. Stubbs said in a recent emergency debate in Ottawa that the current turmoil is exactly why Conservative Party Leader Andrew Sheer is asking for the RCMP to see what’s going on in the capital.

“The leader of Canada’s Conservatives has called for an independent investigation for the RCMP to investigate exactly what has gone on here.”

The scandal was touched off by February 27th testimony from former attorney general Jody Wilson -Raybould that claimed political interference from the Prime Minister’s Office on charges against the Quebec-based engineering group.

Stubbs ended her speech during the debate saying that she hopes more of the Liberal government will stand up for the truth.

“Every single one of those Liberals who ran in the last election; Going on and on about their respect for institutions and openness and transparency. They should all be ashamed. Every single one of them should be standing up.”

Prime Minister Trudeau cancelled a planned trip to Regina on Tuesday to meet with advisors.
