The Cold Lake RCMP is saying five people including three minors are now facing charges after a wild police chase ended near Ardmore last Monday. Mounties say early in the morning of February 25th they were tipped off that a stolen car was making its way to Cold Lake. Police caught up to the car which took off from the officers.
Mounties set up a spike belt to try to pop the tires of the car. The RCMP says an officer had to jump behind a snowbank after the vehicle was driven towards him during the chase. Eventually, the car stopped near Ardmore and the five suspects tried to flee to another “getaway” vehicle. Mounties say that’s when they were able to arrest everyone.
43-year-old Jason Nunweiller and 36-year-old Tasha Marten now face charges including possession of stolen property. The three minors, whose ages range from 14 to 16 also face charges.
