Pink Shirt Day a way to stand up to bullying

Students around the Lakeland will join the fight against bullying on Wednesday. February 27th is Pink Shirt Day, a day which seeks to raise awareness on bullying and put an end to it. The day was started in 2007 after Nova Scotia high school students wore pink shirts in solidarity with a student who was bullied for wearing one.

Students at many Northern Lights Public Schools and Lakeland Catholic School Division schools will be wearing pink shirts in a show of solidarity. The schools are also encouraging staff members, support staff and parents to don the colour to show support.

NLPS students are also working on videos that feature an anti-bully message. Those videos will be viewable on the school boards social media accounts.
