Temps hit record low Tuesday

It’s a record that many people may be cursing up and down. Environment Canada says Tuesday was the coldest February 5th for the Lakeland in their 66 years of weather records. Temperatures recorded at 4 Wing Cold Lake say we hit -39 degrees, taking the belt from the mark of -38 set in 1984.

The normal temperatures lows for our region should only be touching around -19. Weather experts say a blast of cold arctic air caused by a weakened jet stream is what is causing our deep-freeze status.

Environment Canada says an extreme cold warning is into its fourth day . It could be the weekend before the Lakeland sees any relief.
