Extreme Cold Warning Continues For Bonnyville, Cold Lake, St. Paul and Lac La Biche

Extreme cold warnings are issued when very cold temperatures or wind chill creates elevated health risks like frostbite and hypothermia.

Wind chills between -40 and -50 will continue this morning for many regions in the Lakeland before warming slightly this afternoon and then returning overnight.

Watch for cold-related symptoms like shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes. Cover up. Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill factors.

If it’s too cold for you to stay outside, it’s too cold for your pet to stay outside.

The cold arctic air is expected to remain in the region through until Thursday.
