The Bonnyville RCMP Have Been Busy with a Number of Drunk Drivers

***RELEASE FROM THE BONNYVILLE RCMP DETACHMENT***

On May 26th, 2015 at approximately 12:00 AM, a Bonnyville RCMP Constable was making patrols along 50th avenue in Bonnyville when he observed a vehicle make numerous traffic infractions.  The Bonnyville RCMP Officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop with the vehicle however the vehicle made a U – Turn and ended up landing in a nearby ditch.  The Bonnyville RCMP Constable approached the vehicle and noted the driver, a 53 year old male resident of Kehewin, AB, with a strong odour of liquor who stated that he was just trying to park the vehicle.  During the course of the investigation, the driver was arrested for Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and demanded to provide a sample of his breath.  The male was transported to the Bonnyville RCMP Detachment where he provided samples of his breath which resulted in readings of almost twice the legal limit.  The male was released when sober with pending charges of Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle.

 

On May 30th, 2015 at approximately 2:00 AM, Constables of the Bonnyville RCMP Detachment were on route to a complaint of a loud party in the Town of Bonnyville when they observed a van traveling at a high rate of speed and almost fail to stop at a stop sign.  A vehicle stop was conducted with the van and a strong odour of liquor was observed coming from the female driver, a 41 year old resident of Bonnyville, who was subsequently arrested for Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and demanded to provide a sample of her breath.  While securing the female in the police car for transport to the Bonnyville RCMP Detachment, she spit on the arresting officer.  The female has been remanded into custody facing charges of Assaulting a Peace Officer, Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Refusing to provide a Breath Sample and Driving while Disqualified facing her first appearance in Bonnyville Court on June 2nd, 2015.

 

On May 30th, 2015 between 4:00 AM and 5:00 AM, two more drivers were arrested for Impaired Driving within the town of Bonnyville, a 29 year old male resident of Saskatchewan and a 29 year old male resident of Bonnyville.  Both males provided samples of their breaths resulting in charges which include Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
