St. Paul mulling over security idea

Should the Town of St. Paul hire security? That’s the question being debated in town council. Town officials have put the idea forward to help curb property crime. Council originally heard the idea on January 14th. The plan was to hire a private company to patrol when the local peace officers weren’t on duty early in the mornings.

The security company wouldn’t make any arrests and would instead report to the local RCMP. Comparisons have already been made the St. Paul Citizens On Patrol group which performs similar duties on a volunteer basis.

Council is set to talk about the idea Monday evening. No decision had been made as of press time.
