St. Paul Hospital Gala hoping to help babies and moms

The St. Paul & District Hospital Foundation is hoping another fundraiser will help with some much-needed equipment. The group is preparing for their gala on March 2nd. This year the donation goal is set at $124,000. Chair of the foundation Noreen Brousseau says the gala is a labour of love for herself.

“As long as our hospital is here we need to support it. We’ll do whatever we can. The board members and our community have been amazing.”

A dinner, silent and live auctions and entertainment by improv -comedy group “Don’t Mind Us” is in store for attendees at the St. Paul Rec Centre. The money raised this year will be used primarily for babies and their mothers. The wish list from the foundation includes a new fetal heart monitor and a “Giraffe” isolette chamber as well as a “Billisoft” phototherapy unit. Brousseau says the new phototherapy equipment makes it easier to help treat the young ones.

“When the babies were suffering from Jaundice they used to go under great big lights. Now they have a blanket that is wrapped around them and mommy can still hold baby.”
