Shyian saying goodbye to station 5

A Bonnyville-based fire chief is saying goodbye to the job. Daryl Shyian is retiring as the Chief of Bonnyville Fire Station Number 5. He has spent the last 27 years as a firefighter with the Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority. Shyian was named chief of the station in 2011.

The fire department says they are in the middle of finding out who his replacement will be. Shyian also works for Imperial Oil when he is not working as a firefighter. He is retiring from his job there as well.

His last official day as the boss of station 5 will be February 1st.
