Victim Services ready to hand over ORN after successful holiday

The last Operation Red Nose organized by Cold Lake Victims Services is over and now they are looking for a replacement. The program is coming off a successful holiday 2018 run that saw 60 volunteers provide 287 safe rides over the course of 11 nights. Program Manager with Victim Services David Zimmerman says his group was also able to take in donations that help with his organization.

“We made roughly about $5500 in straight donations from the customers.”

Victim Services had announced that this would be the last time they hosted the ride program back in November. Zimmerman says since the announcement a few groups have shown interest in taking the reins.

“We are in the works with a few people right now so there are a few organizations that are interested. Nothing is confirmed as of yet.”

Zimmerman says a good place to start if an organization would be interested in being the host would be the national ORN webpage. He says CLVS is willing to help make the transition as smooth as possible.

“I’ll probably do a little bit of mentoring myself.”

This was the 8th year CLVS had played host to the program.
