Statoil Canada and MEG Energy Remove All Non-Essential Employees from Northern Facilities

Two more oilfield companies are the latest casualties of the wildfires in northern Alberta.

Statoil Canada, which has a facility south of Fort MacMurray has voluntarily removed all non-essential staff from its Leismer project. Only about 30 of the facilities 185 workers will remain on site.

MEG Energy in Christina Lake has removed all non-essential staff and contractors away from the site. Further, MEG has suspended operations, which includes planned maintenance work.

 

Earlier this week, Cenovus Energy closed its Foster Creek facility and Canadian Natural Resources closed their Primrose site due to the wildfire on The Cold Lake Air Weapons Range (CLAWR).
