Cold snap should end this afternoon

A double dose of winter in 48 hours for the Lakeland has many wondering when it will end. The region still sits in an Extreme Cold Warning issued by Environment Canada early last night. The group says the blast of cold temperatures, which could reach between minus 40 and minus 45 today with the windchills, should ease up as we head into the afternoon.

This warning comes after a snowfall warning late Saturday night that dropped snow and high winds through the area. Environment Canada says care has to be taken with exposed skin and time outside. They’re also reminding everyone to keep an eye on their pets for signs of freezing.
