St. Paul SAR gets helping hand from Ag Society

St.Paul Search and Rescue is celebrating a big donation. On December 15th the group was presented with a cheque for over $3200 from the St. Paul Ag Society. The money was raised from a November benefit concert and supper. St. Paul Ag Society President Doug Drolet says the night featured fun and music from Banff music trio the Wardens.

“We always try to do some sort of a fundraiser for any particular organization. We did Search and Rescue this year and we had ‘The Wardens’ come out.”

The money has already been earmarked for use. Drolet says SAR has a plan for purchasing a new drone to be used to scan search areas from the skies.

“They have a drone now that they use but they wanted to upgrade to one that is heat-seeking. It can see people on the ground.”

Drolet says his group loves helping out in the community. He figures meetings in the early part of the new year will pick another organization and work towards another donation.
