Two police cars packed with food: Bonnyville mounties

Mounties in Bonnyville say they’ve scored big with a new fundraiser for the food bank. The RCMP had a police cruiser parked in front of the Sobey’s on 45th street on Saturday for their first “Pack the Police Car” fundraiser. Staff Sergeant Sarah Parke says not one but two police trucks were packed to the brim with donations for the local food bank. She pegs the total donations at just under 3000 pounds.

The idea to host a food drive was suggested by Corporal Pedro Rodrigues. Cold Lake mounties had also hosted a similar day earlier in December and raised a similar amount of food for the Cold Lake food bank.

Parke says she thinks the day will become an annual event.
