St.Paul, Vilna to get more paramedics

The Government of Alberta says St. Paul and Vilna are among communities that will see more ambulances and paramedics. The province announced on December 7th that new equipment and trained emergency medical professionals would be coming to certain communities. Edmonton and Calgary will see about 30 more paramedics and between 5 and 10 new ambulances. St. Paul and Vilna are earmarked for 4 new paramedics each.

Health Minister Sarah Hoffman says more numbers in the fleet means a healthier province.

“With more ambulances on the road and more paramedics ready to respond, Albertans will have improved access to emergency medical care when it matters.”

The announcement comes after an increase by $29 million dollars in the 2018 provincial budget for emergency medical services. Bonnyville announced at the end of October it would help with funding for a new ambulance after talks with Alberta Health Services.
