Stubbs opens up on Trudeau after Calgary visit

Lakeland MP Shannon Stubbs is opening up on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. The Conservative shadow minister for natural resources released a statement on November 23rd after the prime minister visited Calgary to meet with local government and chamber of commerce officials. Trudeau has called the low price of Western Canadian Select crude oil a “crisis” for the province.

Stubbs says she doesn’t buy the tone of support from the leader.

“Justin Trudeau is deceiving Canadians when he says he supports Canada’s energy sector. He personally gave the order to cancel the Northern Gateway pipeline and killed the Energy East pipeline with red tape and regulations. Justin Trudeau made the choice to cancel two major export pipelines– and that choice is a direct cause of the price discount on Canadian oil.”

The release goes on to talk about her opposal of Bill C-69, a piece of legislature that many in the west believe may chase away energy investment. On November 19th, Stubbs rose in the House of Commons to voice her displeasure in the bill.

“Capital Group, a big investor in Canadian oil, points out the reality that ‘No major pipeline project is yet assured’ under these Liberals and that energy investors are ‘Questioning the merits of investing in Canada’ because of them.”

The release claims that Trudeau is at the helm of the biggest loss in investment to Canadian energy since the 1940s. Stubbs says big changes have to be made before things will get better.

“The Liberals anti-energy agenda is the problem, not the solution. When will they stop killing Canadian jobs and withdraw their ‘No more pipelines’ bill C-69?”.
