Portage College suspect was previously wanted by mounties: RCMP

Lac La Biche mounties are saying one of the men arrested in the incident at Portage College on November 22nd was previously wanted in connection to a chop shop ring. The RCMP says 25-year-old Derek Gladue was taken into custody yesterday after he attempted to hide in Portage College, causing the school to go into lock-down. Gladue was previously wanted by police after an October 18th operation to break up a suspected chop shop ring near Beaver Lake.

Mounties say Gladue was arrested after being found hiding in the ceiling of the school. No one was injured during the entire ordeal. Gladue now faces charges including possession of stolen property and flight from police. He’ll stay in police custody and see Bonnyville court on November 27th

A second man arrested also faces similar charges. He’ll be in Lac La Biche court on December 3rd
