Portage College announces agreement with Canadian Forces Reserve

A Lakeland college is throwing its support behind the military. Portage College announced it has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Canadian Forces Reserve. The agreement lets students and employees of the college take a leave of absence without punishment or loss of work should they be called to active duty. There are around 26,00 reservists serving in the Canadian Forces.

11 other colleges in Alberta have signed the memorandum. Interim President and CEO Nancy Broadbent says the college will always stand behind those serving the country.

“Portage College is proud to support the Canadian Armed Forces through this agreement. We look forward to serving them, as they have done for us.”
