Bonnyville remembers on November 11th

The Lakeland came together to give thanks and remember. Remembrance Day ceremonies were held across the region including a ceremony at the Bonnyville Centennial Centre. Around 350 people sat together in the field house and listened to Bonnyville Legion President Ron Fox lead an hour service. Soldiers from 4 Wing as well as the local RCMP and sea and air cadet groups were on hand. Multiple organizations and dignitaries in the community laid wreaths at a memorial in front of the centre stage including Mayor Gene Soblewski, MLA Scott Cyr and the leaders of the private and public school boards.

At around 4:30 pm on the evening, bells were rung across the community. The 100 chimes symbolized the century that has passed since the end of the first world war. Other ceremonies were held in Edmonton as well as the National War Memorial in Ottawa.
