Cold Lake “Top 20 dangerous places to live”: Macleans

Cold Lake has made a list that isn’t one to be proud of. The Lakeland city was named one of Macleans Magazines “Top 20 Dangerous Places to live in Canada”. Cold Lake took the number 15 spot on the list.

The magazine uses Crime Severity Index numbers to list its rankings. The CSI looks at specific crimes like homicides, drug use and trafficking and breaking and entering among others. Macleans says Cold Lakes population of 14,848 has a Crime Severity Index of 153. That’s over twice the Canadian average of 70.

Number one spot on the list fell to North Battleford, Saskatchewan. Macleans says the Saskatchewan city of just over 13,000 has a CSI of 371.
