Lakeland MP, Public Safety Minister duke out over repatriated ISIS

Shannon Stubbs is not happy with the Liberal plans for repatriating suspected ISIS members. The Lakeland MP rose in the House of Commons on October 22nd and attacked the government plan to investigate and prosecute Canadian citizens who left to fight.

“[The Liberal government] proactively welcomes and facilitates terrorists coming back to Canada. That’s the facts. Canadians actually want to know that terrorists will end up in jail, not walking in our streets and living in our communities.”

13 Canadian citizens are currently thought to be held in Syria right now on charges of fighting for ISIS. Canada has not stripped any of them of their citizenship and will not block them in returning home.

Minister of Public Safety Ralph Goodale was quick to fire back. He says some of the information that Stubbs presented isn’t exactly true.

“We have not offered to repatriate anyone. In fact, there is no deal with the Kurd region at the present time.”
