Lakeland Mounties find stolen vehicles, two charged

Lakeland mounties say they’ve found a pair stolen vehicles and now two suspects are facing charges. Mounties from the Eastern Alberta Crime Reduction Unit say an investigation led them to a rural area in the M.D on October 16th where a truck previously reported stolen from Bonnyville was found. While mounties were in the area, a second stolen truck was spotted. The truck took off from police, eventually crashing in a ditch. A 16-year-old from Ardmore was eventually arrested. He now faces multiple charges including theft of a motor vehicle and will see Bonnyville Provincial court on November 6th.

The RCMP is also saying stolen vehicles have been found in Saddle Lake. on October 15th, mounties from St. Paul found a truck originally stolen from the Bruderheim area near the Saddle Lake Cree Nation. When mounties tried to pull over the truck, it fled. The truck later got stuck in a rural residence and a 44-year-old man was arrested. He also faces a number of charges including possession of stolen property and flight from police. He’ll see St. Paul court on November 1st.

“Offenders rely on transportation to get around and commit their crimes,” says Constable Guillaume Wilson, EADRCRU. “Every time we recover a stolen vehicle we are taking away the opportunity of further crimes being committed.”
