A Woman Arrested in Kehewin after Attempting to Run from Police

The Bonnyville RCMP responded to a possible drunk driver call on May 5th at the Pow Wow Grounds in Kehewin, Alberta. When the Constable arrived, at approximately 6:30 PM, the vehicle was located parked near the grounds.

Both occupants showed signs of intoxication and the female in the driver’s seat, a 49 year old resident of Onion Lake, SK, was arrested for Impaired Care and Control of a Motor Vehicle.  When the female was directed to exit the vehicle, she attempted to run away from the Bonnyville RCMP Constable however she was caught after a short foot chase and ground fight.  The female was then transported to the Bonnyville RCMP Detachment where she refused to provide samples of her breath.

Police checks on the female also showed that she was bound by conditions of her probation including not to consume alcohol.  The female, with an extensive criminal history, remains in custody facing charges of Refusing to Comply with a Breath Demand, Impaired Care and Control of a Motor Vehicle, Resist Arrest and Failing to Comply with Probation x 2.
