Fire prevention week in Bonnyville hopes to warn and inform

The Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority is opening its doors as Fire Prevention Week begins. An open house is set to go on October 9th. The day will allow adults and kids alike the chance to tour a fire hall, see equipment first responders use and ask questions. The open house will run from 4 until 8 pm.

The 2018 theme of Fire Prevention Week is “Look. Listen. Learn. Be aware. Fire can happen anywhere.” The goal is to teach residents how to stop a fire before it happens as well as how to safely evacuate if it does.

Firefighters from BRFA fire hall 5 in Bonnyville have been busy knocking on doors and talking about carbon monoxide poisoning. They will be back out on October 16th.

Fire Prevention Week was started in 1922. It begins every year on the week of October 9th.
