The RCMP in Cold Lake says a scam making the rounds uses a police phone number. Mounties are saying they’ve taken calls from concerned residents after they received threatening calls from a number that appears to be from the Cold Lake RCMP on caller ID. Residents say the caller demands money and threatens to send mounties over to fix a debt.
The RCMP is reminding everyone that mounties are not collection agents and the calls are fraudulent. Their investigation into the calls continues.
