More students are attending the Lakeland Catholic School Division in 2018. The division announced that unofficial numbers have shown a growth in enrollment by just over seven percent over last year. CTS and Communications Officer Amanda Wildman says the numbers around the area have the board happy.
“Our current numbers far exceed the enrollment numbers we had last spring, especially in Bonnyville and Cold Lake.”
Around 2,500 students are enrolled for classes this year. On average, around 350 students are enrolled in each of the schools in Bonnyville students. Cold Lake sits at about 400 students per school. Wildman says the rise in numbers comes from a variety of reasons.
“Perhaps it’s some new members coming into the communities. We also have schools in four different communities so that might also help our expansion and enrollment numbers.
The board says an official enrollment count will be made available to the public around September 30th.
